COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- The beloved "assistant manager cat" of a Columbus brewery, who inspired a drink in his name, has returned to his duties following a recovery from cancer.
Horatio, of Seventh Son Brewery, was diagnosed with fibrosarcoma in March after employees noticed a lump on his back leg. A fundraiser brought in enough to cover his treatment costs and nearly $10,000 more for pet-related charities. On Instagram, Horatio "announced" his return.
"Guess what? I'm back," the post read. "I'm (re)exploring my old stomping grounds and making sure everything is where I last remembered. So far, so good. It's great to see my coworkers again, too. They're looking after me and making sure I'm doing well."
In May, Horatio finished 19 radiation treatments, with a full recovery expected.
"Thank you to everyone who’s supported us so far, and he’s doing great,” Seventh Son co-founder Collin Castore said after the surgery. “He’s a happy guy.”
Horatio even has a drink named after him -- the brewery's "Assistant Manager" beer. But to Seventh Son, the beloved cat is more than just the face of the brand.
“He’s been our all-natural pest control, friend and mascot almost from the time that we opened up,” Castore said in March. “He’s a really great guy. All our guests love him, our staff loves him.”
The post requested that visitors don't pick Horatio up just yet while he continues to recover from his surgery. He is not currently allowed outside as he takes his time to readjust to his workplace.
