Report: English club have ace up their sleeve in pursuit of Tottenham player
According to Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United could rely on Gretar Steinsson to help push through a permanent signing of Joe Rodon.
Steinsson previously worked as the performance manager at Tottenham for one year before leaving the role back in July of 2023 to take over as Leeds’ technical director.
The report reveals that the former Spurs employee was the man who oversaw the Championship club’s loan signing of Rodon last summer.
It is explained that Tottenham are now ready to sell the centre-back permanently this summer and Stienson’s presence at Leeds could give the club a ‘unique advantage’ over other sides in the race for the Wales international.

The outlet states that while the Yorkshire club might not have the finances to match some of the other sides who want the Spurs defender, the 42-year-old’s relationship with Daniel Levy and other Tottenham officials may prove pivotal.
It has been widely reported over recent weeks that all three newly promoted Premier League clubs are keen on signing Rodon, who is thought to be valued by the Lilywhites at around £10m (Football Insider).
Whatever the case, it appears Spurs should have no problem finding a suitor for the Welshman this summer.

While Steinsson’s relationships at Tottenham would get him Leeds a seat at the negotiating table for Rodon, I doubt it would give them any other advantage, with Spurs wanting to sell the player to the highest bidder.
The Wales international himself might not be too keen on returning to Elland Road if a few Premier League clubs show serious interest in his services.
