Maya Jama denies she’s locked in feud with Love Island star after fans claim she’s ‘stressed’ over AfterSun comments
LOVE Island host Maya Jama has been forced to deny she’s in a feud with Aftersun guest star Jordan Stephens after an awkward appearance.
Jordan is a regular panellist on the end-of-week chat show, giving his unfiltered thoughts on the islanders how the week’s events have played out.
However, after hearing from fans that she appeared “stressed” by his comments, Maya put the record straight during a Q+A on her Instagram on Tuesday afternoon.
She wrote: “For those that don’t know Jordan is one of my best friends (some of you think I’m stressed by his comments on aftersun and I love it, I’m just being professional)”
Alongside the comment was Jordan and Maya posing behind-the-scenes of the show, both throwing up peace signs with Maya in a tiny orange dress and Jordan in a blue shirt, white trousers and cream coloured cardigan.
The Rizzle Kicks star has become a regular commentator on Love Island, especially after Maya joined the series as the new host in early 2023.
On Sunday night’s show, following the shocking dumping of Omar Nyame and Tiffany Leighton, Jordan made his feelings clear about how he felt it went down.
Speaking about the couples in the villa, he bluntly ruled that Joey Essex and Grace Jackson weren’t to be, telling Maya: “We know what she wants, and it ain’t Joey.”
After sharing a clip of Grace talking to Konnor, insinuating she wasn’t “closed off” when it comes to Joey, Jordan was seen laughing and sarcastically saying “what a surprise”, before agreeing with newly-dumped Samantha Kenny when she labelled her former love rival “slimy”.
He later implied that Joey and Grace were playing up for the cameras, telling Maya: “Both of them have to change their game plans immediately.”
He also mocked Ronnie’s promo photo, pointing at Ronnie’s family in the video and calling it “diabolical” before saying “I would sue!”
Maya laughed along but played things a bit more safely, simply adding it was “not very flattering”.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter) one fan wrote: “Jordan always keeps it so real. Maya trying her best not to agree and laugh with him.”
“Jordan needs to always be on Aftersun omg. Maya looks stresssssssssed however,” added another.
“Jordan is always stressing Maya out on aftersun I love him,” added a third.
