Wetherspoons has made a major change at 788 pubs from this weekend just in time for the Euros
WETHERSPOONS has made a major change across hundreds of its pubs this weekend in a boost for footie fans.
The pub chain began screening Euro 2024 games across 788 of its pubs on yesterday, when the tournament began.
It comes just in time for England’s first match taking place tomorrow at 8pm.
But, Spoons has confirmed more than 20 of its boozers won’t be showing matches, due to the sites not having TV screens.
A spokesperson previously said: “Football fans can enjoy the Euro 2024 tournament live at Wetherspoon.
“Wetherspoon’s pubs will be showing all of the fixtures throughout June and July.
“So wherever your local is, you won’t miss out on the action.”
Euro 2024 is taking place in Germany, with the 788 Wetherspoons locations showing England and Scotland’s fixtures.
The Three Lions’ first game is against Serbia tomorrow, while the Scots played the opening game of the tournament yesterday evening against Germany.
It comes after the Government confirmed pubs will be allowed to stay open until 1am on match days if either England or Scotland reach the semi-finals of the Euros this summer.
The semi-final stage of this year’s Euros will take place on July 9 and July 10 while the final is on July 14.

In another key move ahead of the tournament, Spoons reversed a controversial ban for its boozers on the eve of Euros footie festivities last week.
The St George’s Cross, along with all other flags, were barred from being flown in Spoons watering holes during the 2018 World Cup – but patriotic pubs are now being given the go-ahead.
But now bar staff are being told they can also fly flags at their discretion as the nation cheers on Gareth Southgate‘s boys in Germany.
How to save money at Wetherspoons
Every year, Spoons holds its Tax Equality Day to highlight the benefits of a permanently reduced tax bill for the pub industry.
It usually takes place in September, and last year it fell on Thursday, September 14.
As well as its 12-day Real Ale Festival every Autumn, Wetherspoons also holds a Spring Festival.
Wetherspoons is known for its meal deal offers that run all week long.
These include Tuesday’s Steak Club, Thursday’s Curry Club and Fish Friday.
For example, a standard curry club meal with an alcoholic drink is between £8.55 and £9.19.
Outside of the deal, you would expect to pay around a fiver more for the same meal.
You can enjoy bottomless brews all day in participating Wetherspoons pubs by buying one hot drink.
The offer includes Tetley tea and a range of Lavazza coffee including a flat white, latte, cappuccino, and Americano.
Prices start from just 99p but they can vary depending on your location.
Spoons isn’t the only pub chain trying to entice customers in for the Euros either.
Greene King gave away free pints at 800 of its bars before Scotland’s game against Germany on Friday.
The offer was available between 6pm and 7pm at 800 of the pub company and brewer’s pubs in England, Scotland, and Wales.
Boozers could choose from a variety of drinks, including pints of Greene King’s Level Head and Flint Eye, as well as ciders, spirits, and soft drinks.

Elsewhere, Spoons boss Tim Martin exclusively revealed to The Sun why its prices are so cheap.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun, Sir Tim Martin busted the urban myth that Wetherspoons’ drinks are so cheap because it buys short-dated beer that is about to go off.
Sir Tim expressed his frustration with the myth, revealing one of his doctors even repeated the lie to him.
The boozer boss instead said that Wetherspoons was able to sell beer and spirits so cheaply because it bought and sold in bigger quantities than anyone else.
Plus, work on its “Super Spoons” in Newcastle is now underway which will include a 26-bedroom hotel and a 3,000 sq ft beer garden.
Sir Tim told The Sun that he was now planning to ramp up Super Spoons by making existing sites even bigger.
“We are probably going to enlarge 40 or 50 more of our pubs over the next few years, in a similar style to Ramsgate and Newcastle”, he said.
The pub chain has also recently slashed the price of four breakfast staples across dozens of pubs.
It is offering discounted sausages, bacon, hash browns and eggs across 78 boozers in London.
Hungry punters can snap up four different breakfast options for £2.99 instead of up to £5.41 – 45% off.
The offer is running indefinitely with Wetherspoons yet to announce an end date.
The four savoury options include the small breakfast, small vegetarian breakfast, vegan breakfast and freedom breakfast.
