‘Are you training her to be a stripper?’ mum slated for ‘bad parenting’ after letting daughter, 8, get LONG acrylics
A MUM has been slammed for her “bad parenting” after letting her eight-year-old daughter get long acrylic nails.
Nail tech Nini took to her Instagram page to share a video of a little girl showing off her manicure.
In the clip, the girl looked delighted as she put her hands forward to draw attention to the nails.
They were long and square, with French tips in white or glitter, with embellishments including a silver butterfly and a sparkling dollar sign.
“POV: You let your eight-year-old get acrylics for her ninth birthday,” Nini wrote over the top of the video.
In the caption, she revealed that she does acrylics, gels or just regular manicures for kids at half the price of her normal rates.
“At what age would you allow your daughter to have acrylics?” she questioned in the caption.
And people in the comments section were quick to weigh in, with the majority insisting they would never allow their child to have acrylic nails – especially with that design.
“8 year old with dollar sign on her nails?” one wrote.
“What are you training her to be a stripper?”
“This is bad parenting,” another said.
“It is not recommended for children to get nail nail extensions until age 16 because the nail plate is still growing, and they can damage it.
“Shame on the tech who did these.”
“Are kids not kids anymore???” a third asked.
As someone else said: “Nah, in my opinion it’s just bad parenting.”
“She got raptor claws for her birthday. Expensive ones at that! Nope…” another raged.
“I’d be embarrassed if any of my children had nails like this!” someone else admitted.

“Nope! Not at 8 yrs old! I would introduce her to basic manicure and soft colour polish,” another said.
“I guess I’m from old school, but I think some of these trends tend to cause aging too soon!”

“Manicure, yes. Nails no. Her hands have not matured. It’s vulgar,” another insisted.
“The length is absolutely inappropriate!!” someone else said.
“I start servicing my clients kids for birthday acrylics at 8 but I require them to be short short… 13/14 is the minimum age for length in my opinion.”
“No. Maybe for her 16th and absolutely no dollar signs,” another wrote.

MUMS have sparked controversy after allowing their kids to get acrylic nails. But just how old do they have to be to be allowed to get them done legally.
According to the National Occupational Standards, anyone under the age of 16 has to be accompanied by an adult.
They also need written consent from a parents or guardian.
It’s also a good idea to check that the salon you’re planning to go to – just to ask if they offer services to children.

“My daughters are 2&4 and honestly I can’t wait for them to ask me so I can say yes,” another said.

“I suggest for any caretaker or parent wanting their daughter’s nails on their birthday to get almond shaped nail or round – they cute and softer.”
