GLADIATORS fans were left stunned by the oldest ever contestant as a grandfather took on the challenge.
The show is a BBC reboot of the iconic sports entertainment programme that ran between 1992 and 2000.
The programme returned tonight with father and son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh hosting the show from Sheffield.
Viewers watched 57-year-old Paul from Sheffield, who also happens to be a grandad, take on the challenge.
He and 32-year-old Dev from London, went up against Nitro and Phantom in The Ring round.
Paul ended up being the only contender there to score two points.
But fans were left shocked by his age, and took to X/Twitter to share their thoughts.
One wrote: “Can’t believe Paul is actually 57, look at how good he looks!”
A second exclaimed: “He’s NOT 57!!”
A third penned: “Paul can’t be 57, wow.”
A fourth added: “Paul is more fit than me, and I’m 22!”
A fifth wrote: “How is Paul 57??!!”
It comes after, Gladiators was left in chaos recently as the show’s referee was forced to draw a game to a halt.
The show got off to an eventful start as the first two players, Matt and Chung, took the stage.
However, the game quickly encountered a setback when a wardrobe malfunction caused a temporary halt.
Just moments into the first game, Powerball, referee Mark Clattenburg had to intervene as Phantom found himself in an unfortunate predicament.
