ACC Roundup - Miami Gets Clobbered By Colorado While BC Takes Down Pitino’s St. John’s
Didn't see a beatdown coming
In Sunday’s ACC Action, Boston College got a big win over St. John’s and Miami just got mangled by Colorado.
That one was a bit eye opening as Colorado won 90-63. It was a reasonably close game until Norchad Omier fouled out with 13:02 left to play and Miami down a manageable 51-46.
The Buffs outscored the ‘Canes 39-17 after that.
Turnovers certainly didn't help - Miami racked up 20 and Wooga Poplar had six by himself. Matthew Cleveland had four. It was just an ugly night for the ‘Canes.
Don’t look now, but with an 86-80 win over the Johnnies, Boston College is now 8-3.
To be clear, this St. John’s team is limited. There wasn’t a lot of time to put it together but Rick Pitino is still the coach and, well, he’s still Pitino. So that means his team will be dangerous and, eventually, most likely very dangerous.
Size is a problem for St. John’s though and BC’s Quinten Post nearly racked up a triple double with 14 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. Jaeden Zackery shot 7-10 and finished with 14. And keep an eye on this - Donald Hand Jr. came off the bench for another solid game with 11 points.
Best of all for Boston College, they had to earn the win and in a major venue (both games were at Barclays).
From here the Eagles get Lehigh, Wake Forest on the road and then Georgia Tech and Syracuse on the road.
None of those games look like sure losses or anything. It’s conceivable that BC could roll into Littlejohn at 12-3 which would make things very interesting.
No games until Tuesday.
