I’m a WAG but it’s not as glam as people think – I’m always cold supporting my beau and don’t even have a Range Rover
A SELF-STYLED wag has set the record straight on her lifestyle – and it’s not as glamorous as people may think.
Emily Johnson is a “non-league WAG” as her beau plays football in the lower tiers of the English league system.
That means her lifestyle is far from travelling across the globe in a private jet and driving around in supercars.
The content creator recently took to TikTok to set the record straight, sharing that she “dedicates her Saturdays” to supporting her man from the sidelines.
“I’m currently sat in the car and we’ve driven an hour to get here,” she said.
“And what did I do? I forgot to bring £3, so I can’t even get in the gate.
“So now I’m waiting till half time so that I can get in for free.”
Emily added in another video that being a “non-league WAG” has been a “shock to the system”.
“Being a WAG isn’t shopping trips to Selfridges, holidays to the Maldives and driving around in Range Rovers,” she said.
“It’s freezing your tits off in the depths of winter, sat in an empty stand watching your man run around a field.”
One viewer commented that being a “non-league WAG is not for the faint hearted”.
Another joked that it’s “even worse when you go and just watch him sit on the bench”.
WAG is an acronym which refers to the spouses and girlfriends of well-known athletes.
It stands for “wives and girlfriends”, though the term is used in the singular form to describe a specific partner.
Coverage often focuses on their lavish lifestyles, with the likes of Cheryl Cole and Victoria Beckham popularising the WAG lifestyle during the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
In current times, popular WAGs include Jack Grealish’s content creator girlfriend Sasha Attwood, Harry Maguire’s wife Fern Hawkins and England goalie Jordan Pickford’s wife, Megan.
