UCLA assistant coach Jeff Faris hired as Austin Peay’s football coach
UCLA assistant coach Jeff Faris was announced as Austin Peay’s next head football coach on Saturday morning.
Faris spent the past two seasons as the tight ends coach. He spent nine seasons at Duke in multiple coaching positions, including co-offensive coordinator in 2021, after finishing his playing career with the program in 2011.
His departure creates a third vacancy on UCLA coach Chip Kelly’s staff. Defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn left to take the same role at USC while quarterbacks coach Ryan Gunderson left to become the offensive coordinator at Oregon State.
The vacancies come during an important stretch in the college football cycle as coaches are visiting the homes of commits ahead of the early signing day period and hosting various players exploring their options through the transfer portal.
