SUV driver dies following weekend crash with garbage truck in Wethersfield
An SUV driver succumbed to his injuries Friday following a weekend crash with a garbage truck in Wethersfield, police said.
On Saturday around 2:41 a.m., officers responded to 1130 Silas Deane Highway on the report of a two-car motor vehicle crash with injuries, according to the Wethersfield Police Department.
Officers arrived at the scene and discovered that a Kia sport utility vehicle struck a garbage truck. The Kia driver, later identified as 23-year-old David J. Lopez of Wethersfield, had to be extricated from the vehicle by members of the Wethersfield Volunteer Fire Department, police said.
Aetna Ambulance responded to the scene to provide medical attention. Two people, one with life-threatening injuries, were transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to police.
Police reported that Lopez died on Friday.
The crash remains under investigation by the Mid-State Accident Reconstruction Team, according to police.
