We went to ‘absolute shambles’ Autumn Lights firework show – it’s a total ripoff and cost us £30
A FIREWORK display descended into an “absolute shambles” when traffic sparked huge queues and prices left visitors miserable.
Dozens say they were forced to abandon cars and trek “dangerous” roads just to get into Norwich’s Autumn Lights on Saturday.
They blasted “zero traffic management” at Norfolk Showground as punters missed the firework display before waiting hours to be towed out of a mud-logged car park.
One fumed on Facebook: “Total shambles, queued over 1 hour 45 minuets to get in when I live 5 minutes down the road.
“Then ended up abandoning my car to have to walk down extremely dangerous roads/roads & roundabouts coming of the a47 with an autistic child in basically the dark!”
One mum said she sat in “three hours” of traffic outside the event while another was stuck for two with her two young kids in the car.
Punters blame the chaos on the decision to hold two fireworks displays, with a kids event at 7.30pm and the finale, including a laser show, at 8.30pm.
The event began at around 4pm but parents say they were forced to keep their kids busy “for hours” in the freezing cold waiting for the fireworks to begin.
Visitors who had already shelled out £30 a ticket were also left “appalled” at the prices inside the event.
Parents said the £4 to £5 per ride pricing was “shocking” before accusing organisers of ripping them off on food.
One lashed out: “At least give us a break and put on cheaper rides so parents can keep them occupied, huge queues for food and drinks, always takes the fun out of it.”
Another said she blew £21 on three meals and two drinks but others insisted this was standard for such an event.
One man held no punches, adding how the touring show, which had previously been to Lincoln and Sheffield, was a “c**p event”.
But many said they had a great evening and accused the moaners of not getting there early enough.
One hit back: “Took justed over half hour in queue but that was expected, people know this would happen so you just arrive earlier.
“Prices where dear but its the same at concerts.”
Another said: “Everyone saying should of got there early not everyone can.”
Organisers Autumn Lights apologised for Saturday’s event, writing: “We are incredibly sorry to those that got caught in traffic in Norfolk this evening.
