CT man accused of sexual assaulting a young child over two-year period
A 72-year-old man was arrested Friday and charged with sexually assaulting a child over a two-year period, police said.
In October 2021, a juvenile alleged that they were sexually assaulted by Edelson Martinez of Norwalk between the ages of 5 and 7, according to the Norwalk Police Department.
After a lengthy investigation, detectives from the Norwalk Police Department’s Special Victims Unit were able to secure an arrest warrant for Martinez. He was placed into custody on Friday as he was walking to his residence, police said.
Martinez is facing charges of first-degree sexual assault, two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault and four counts of risk of injury to a minor, according to police.
He was being held in lieu of $250,000 bail and scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 13.
