Shots fired causes stampede at Oklahoma State Fair
Shots fired at the Oklahoma State Fair scared attendees into racing from the area causing a stampede, News9 reporter Storme Jones captured in one video.
Shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday night, gunshots were fired, News9 reporters revealed while outside of the scene.
KFOR's Dylan Brown posted a video confirming shots being fired from inside the Bennett Center.
News9 reported that it involved a group of men arguing, leading to the shots. Two person thus far is in custody and one was gunshot wounds to the chest was transported to area hospitals and is in critical condition, said Sgt. Valarie Littlejohn during the briefing before midnight.
Witness Micha deSpain told KWTV reporters that he'd passed the men moments early and heard them arguing. He identified them as people in their 20s. One man shouted, "you don't know who I am!" The witness said he thought it was a joke, but not long after he heard the gunshots.
Within the hour the fairgrounds told people to leave. Sept. 23 is typically the final night of the state fair but they planned to stay open another night since it was a weekend. Now it is unclear if it will reopen.
One video shows the aftermath of the shots as people are racing from the building and police officers are coming inside with guns drawn.
