Professional dancer Amy Dowden is currently undergoing treatment after she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.
In September 2023, Amy shared an update after undergoing her latest round of chemotherapy.
She told her followers: ”Chemo 4. Was extremely sick even with three types of anti sickness. Very tired too. Going to be resting up.”
On September 12, 2023, the brave Strictly star shed a light on her “meltdowns” and tears following her diagnosis.
She said: “I can’t now leave the house without something on the top of my head because unfortunately, [I’m] quite bald on top.”
The Welsh star added: “I think I cry less now. To begin with, it was every day, but now I have meltdowns when I wash my hair once a week.
“For the last two weeks now, I haven’t brushed my hair and that has definitely helped.
“Since I came out of hospital with the blood clots, I stopped brushing it myself because I was just getting distraught seeing how much was falling out.”
When was Amy Dowden diagnosed with breast cancer?
In May 2023, Amy shared the news that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Revealing her health battle on Instagram, the dancer wrote: ”Hey all, I’ve got some news which isn’t easy to share.
“I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer, but I’m determined to get back on that dance floor before you know it.
“Welsh love Amy x.”
The Welsh star, who is married to partner Ben Jones, first discovered a lump in her right breast the day before they flew to the Maldives in April for a belated honeymoon.
How has Strictly Come Dancing paid tribute to Amy Dowden?
In September 2023, Strictly Come Dancing fans were left in tears after the first dance of the series was dedicated to Amy.
Strictly hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman sent their well wishes to Amy as the stars performed a dance in honour of their “Welsh dragon”.
Tess Daly said: “We are of course missing one of our professional dancers, our gorgeous Amy Dowden is unwell and she can’t be with us for the start of the series.
“She’s our Welsh dragon and we know she’ll be back soon.”
Claudia added: “Amy, from your entire Strictly family we are sending all our love and we can’t wait to have you back on the dancefloor.”
