A bettor was devastatingly one Austin Riley home run away from turning $7 into $1 million
The Atlanta Braves lead the MLB standings and just might be the best team in baseball. Naturally, more bettors might look to take advantage of their status as an unmitigated juggernaut.
But not every wager is going to work out. Some, in fact, might even be quite disheartening.
Just ask this bettor who had Austin Riley — a now two-time All-Star — mashing a dinger against the Chicago White Sox on July 14 as one leg of an ambitious parlay. By all accounts, it was a solid bet! Riley has 18 home runs this season and is a great hitter. The Braves even demolished Chicago 9-0 in a blowout win.
Except Riley didn’t hit a home run in the matchup.
And this fan who had $7 on such an outcome lost out on the opportunity to win nearly $1 million. Oof. What a brutal turn of events.
Absolutely sickening

I don’t know how I’d react if I was in this poor person’s shoes. All Riley had to do was hit ONE home run. He had ONE job, and this overall wager would’ve had a wonderful result.
I feel for them, I do.
