Tiny but not flat on Sunday morning

There were a few keen types bobbing about at Dee Why as the sun peeped over the horizon this morning. Out at sea the dead south swell was around a metre at 15 seconds. While that should mean energetic waist-to-chest high sets at magnets, it also implies long waits with not much of anything in between. For the most part I’d say you should expect ankle-to-knee with the odd waist-high set. Wind was coming lightly from the ENE as of 0700. It’s going to get into the 10-15 kt range NE by midday and we can expect the odd shower with it. So putting all that together, the earlier you get to the beach, the better. North corners should offer the best prospects later. Tide was low at 0645 and will be back to a moderate 1.3 m high at 1245. The high should be around 25, while the water is clean and 23.
Outlook is for the tiny stuff to stick around to mid-week before possibly bumping up into the shoulder to head-high range on Thursday at dead south spots.

A trough anchoring about the north coast is weakening while a broad ridge develops across the east. Southeasterly winds along the coast will slowly turn easterly during Sunday. Then another trough looks set to enter the far south coast early new week and slow moving before a strong cold front crosses the coastal waters mid next week.
