Marginal but glassy

Wind backed off during the night hours and as of 0730 was out of the NNE at 4-5 kts. So, the surface conditions were glassy inshore and lightly textured seaward. Swell was 1.5 m SSE at 10 seconds and that meant every now and then you’d (briefly) see a waist plus wave face. Mostly though it was long waits for something in the knee to thigh high range. Tide is a 1.7 metre high at 1015. Weather could see a shower or two on a partly cloudy day with an expected high of 27. Ocean is clean and 23.
Outlook remains for small conditions into Saturday, but by Monday the southerlies should be going hard and the swell should be getting into the 2+ metre range from the east.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system to the west of the Bight is extending a ridge towards the state and moving east while a coastal trough has developed about the southern coastal waters and remain in the region over the next few days. Easterly winds will become established during the midweek as the high pressure system moves across Tasmania and reaches the Tasman Sea by Thursday. Surf conditions may increase during the latter part of the week with powerful easterly swells as a tropical low currently over Coral Sea heads south to the Tasman Sea while intensifying over the coming days.
