My ex’s mum ruined our marriage and still won’t leave me alone
DEAR DEIDRE: MY mother-in-law ruined our marriage and still won’t leave me alone.
She’s been nasty since my ex and I started dating 12 years ago. My ex and I are 42, her mother is 68.

Whenever we saw her, she would comment on how I wasn’t right for her daughter. In her eyes, I wasn’t attractive or successful enough.
It began to hit my confidence. My wife and I had other issues, but her mum was definitely a factor in my decision to end the marriage eight months ago.
It was an amicable split and my wife and I have remained friends for the sake of our three kids. At first I heard nothing from my mother-in-law, but when she found out I’d bought a swanky new flat, the abusive calls began.
She rings me regularly, her No1 line being: “How dare you have a nicer home than my daughter.” I’ve tried blocking her number but she always finds another way to contact me.
