Sara Bareilles, John Legend, & More Preview Upcoming Musicals at Broadway Across America Conference
There are so many exciting musicals in the works right now and industry insiders got a sneak peek last week at Broadway Across America’s 2026 Theatrical Conference.
Sara Bareilles, John Legend, Jon M. Chu and many others presented their upcoming projects during the event, which was held at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach, Fla.
The BAA Theatrical Conference brings together Tony Award®-winning producers, theater owners and operators, general managers, booking agents, and presenters from New York and 45 cities across North America. Designed to encourage meaningful exchange, the conference is intentionally intimate and casual — creating a rare environment where ideas are shared openly and relationships are built across disciplines and geographies.
Sara and director Michael Arden presented their upcoming musical The Interestings, which will debut at San Francisco’s Berkeley Rep in January 2027. John performed music from his new musical Imitation of Life, which will debut at New York City’s Off-Broadway venue The Shed in Fall 2026. Jon shared new details about the musical adaptation of his movie Crazy Rich Asians.
Other stars there included Ana Gasteyer previewing her new musical Schmigadoon, Vanessa Williams giving a preview of The Devil Wears Prada musical that is currently playing in London, Norah Jones opening up about her Practical Magic musical adaptation, TLC talking about their musical CrazySexyCool, Gloria Estefan and her daughter Emily revealing their new project Basura, and Jennifer Nettles previewing her musical Giulia: The Poison Queen of Palermo.
The John Gore Organization CEO John Gore said, “At its heart, theater has always been about people coming together in the same room. This biennial tradition is a reminder of that. When producers, presenters, and artists meet face to face—trading ideas, strengthening relationships, sparking new connections—we’re living out the very thing that makes live performance so powerful and impossible to replicate.”
