Trump Warns of ‘Bad Things’ if No Meaningful Iran Deal Reached
U.S. President Donald Trump warned that within about ten days the world will know whether a meaningful agreement with Iran is achieved.
Speaking at the first Gaza Peace Council meeting in Washington, Donald Trump said talks with Iran have gone “very well,” but acknowledged that reaching a deal with Tehran has historically been difficult.
He said more work is needed to finalize an agreement over Iran’s nuclear programme and suggested the United States may have to go “one step further” if negotiations stall.
Trump praised efforts by his Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, saying they had held constructive meetings related to the talks.
The remarks come as Washington has increased its military presence in the Middle East, even as reports suggest progress in discussions between representatives of the two countries.
Meanwhile, several members of the U.S. Congress from both parties have warned against any military action without congressional authorization, citing war powers legislation.
Tensions between Washington and Tehran have remained high over Iran’s nuclear activities and regional influence, despite intermittent diplomatic efforts.
Previous attempts to revive or renegotiate nuclear understandings have faced political resistance on both sides, complicating efforts to secure a lasting agreement.
Trump said he still hopes for a diplomatic solution but made clear that if no deal is reached, other options remain under consideration.
