In June, Conner was involved in a car accident that resulted in the death of 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins. In the aftermath, he and his wife Leah Thompson stayed with his parents, and he put his phone away entirely.
“It was so out of nowhere. Just in a moment, your entire … like a tornado runs through your house, and there’s so much grief and there’s so much trauma from that intense, intense trauma,” Conner shared.
“There’s a darkness in that, you just can’t — there’s no words, right? It felt like a tornado just blowing through my house. You don’t have a concept of reality and what is going on, and all you have is the people you love, and the people that are around you.”
He said he feels “blessed” to have people in his life who have supported him through it.
Conner was driving a Chevrolet Silverado pickup when he reportedly struck Dorothy as she crossed a roadway inside a marked crosswalk. She was taken to a nearby medical center where she later died.
