Cold and windy today, light freeze likely tonight
A winter blast has arrived in Acadiana this Monday. Wind chills are in the 20s to 30s to start the day as temperatures have fallen into the 30s. Cold, windy, and sunny weather is expected for the afternoon as highs near 57° with northerly winds gusting over 25 mph. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for all of Acadiana as wildfires could rapidly occur and spread if ignited.
Winds will calm down tonight leading to temperatures falling into the lower 30s. Frost is likely across all of Acadiana along with a threat for a light freeze. Cover fragile plants and make sure outdoor pets have a warm place. Exposed pipes do NOT need to be covered.
