Blue Tarp Program for roof repairs opens in St. Landry Parish
ST. LANDRY PARISH, La. (KLFY) -- The Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) will begin accepting applications for the Louisiana Blue Tarp Program for residents of St. Landry Parish.
The program provides grants of up to $15,000 for roof repairs on owner-occupied homes. Eligible applicants must be legal owners and primary residents of the property, with a household income at or below 60% of the Area Median Income. Condominiums, duplexes and townhouses are not eligible.
In-person applications can be submitted on Nov. 17 to Nov. 21, at the Delta Grand in Opelousas. Applications will be accepted from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
For those unable to apply in person, applications can also be submitted via email or mail during the entire application period. Emailed applications should be sent to bluetarpcenla@lhc.la.gov, and mailed applications must be postmarked within the application period to be considered.
The program requires that all applicants receiving grant funds sign an agreement that includes restrictions on selling the property within two years. If the property is sold within this period, the recipient must reimburse the full amount of funding received.
