Tunisia beat South Africa in Baseball5 African Championship final, both earn WBSC Baseball5 World Cup berths
World No. 5 Tunisia defeated No. 14 South Africa in the final of the Baseball5 African Championship at the OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre in Lusaka, 2-0 (7-3 and 6-4) to become Africa Baseball5 champions. The two finalists also clinched Africa's spots in the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2026.
It was an undefeated run for Tunisia, who overcame No. 39 Cape Verde, No. 59 Burkina Faso, No. 9 Kenya, No. 22 Zambia and South Africa in the Opening Round without losing a set.
Tunisia lost their first set against Kenya in the semifinal, but eventually won 2-1 (6-2, 5-15, 5-3).
South Africa, after losing against Tunisia in the Opening Round, defeated Cape Verde in the other semifinal, 2-1 (5-3, 7-8, 10-5).
Kenya beat Cape Verde in the bronze-medal game, 2-1 (5-6, 3-1, 10-5) to finish in third place.
The WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2026
The top three finishers of the Baseball5 European Championship, No. 3 France, No. 13 Spain and No. 11 Turkiye, brought the number of qualified teams to five.
The other 11 participants will qualify according to the continental quota:
- Americas: 4 teams
- Asia: 3 teams
- Oceania: 1 team
- Host: 1 team
- Previous World Cup Host (if not qualified): 1 team
- WBSC Wild Card: 1 team
