NY ranked ninth best state to live in: WalletHub
NEW YORK (PIX11) -- A recent study conducted by WalletHub has ranked the best states to live in based on a number of metrics, including affordability, economy, quality of life, and safety.
Despite ranking almost last in terms of affordability, New York finished ninth on the list.
According to WalletHub's findings, New York ranks first in the country for quality of life and seventh in terms of safety.
Quality of life includes the following metrics:
- Access to public transportation
- Accessibility of beaches
- Air quality
- Average commute time
- Average hours worked per week
- Bars per capita
- "Bicycle-friendly state" ranking
- Fitness centers per capita
- Miles of trails for bicycling and walking per total state land area
- Museums per capita
- Performing arts centers per capita
- Quality of roads
- Restaurants per capita
- Traffic congestion
- Weather
Several nearby states also ranked in the top 10: New Jersey in third place, New Hampshire in seventh, and Pennsylvania in tenth.
