Mariners Game #77 Preview, 6/23/25: SEA at MIN
A Long Series in the Twin Cities
Following yesterday’s big win over the Chicago Cubs, the M’s continue their central time zone road trip with a four-game set against the Minnesota Twins. The Mariners last played the Twins at the end of May/start of June, winning two of three in Seattle. Since then, the Twins have gone on a rough skid in the month of June, and spent the weekend being swept at home by the Milwaukee Brewers. If the Mariners offense continues to hit like they did in Wrigley, this should be a fun series.
Lineups:
It’s bump day for Bryan Woo, fresh of a 7 inning, 1 hit performance on June 17th. He’ll be making his second career start against the Twins, his first having been his no-decision 6.2 inning start on May 30. Woo has been excellent this year, becoming a surprise workhorse after being on strict pitch-limits last year. He is the only starting pitcher this year to throw at least 6.0 innings in each of their first 14 starts. Should he do the same today, he’d be the first pitcher to reach a 15 game streak since Joe Musgrove in 2022.
Lineup-wise, it’s a strong one today. Notably absent is the suddenly resurgent Donovan Solano. Instead, Luke Raley will be at first base with Dominic Canzone in right field. Your MLB home run leader and reigning AL Player of the Week Cal Raleigh will do the catching and bat third.
Right Hander Bailey Ober will start game one. He’s had an interesting year so far and some downright fascinating batted ball profiles. He gives up fly balls at an extreme rate, but home runs at a pretty reasonable rate. His strikeout rate is below his career mark, so look for a lot of contact in the air tonight. Maybe the Mariners can use this heat wave to their advantage and hit more homeruns while they’re free of the marine layer.
