'Unlimited!' Trump believes Iran-Israel ceasefire will last 'forever'
President Donald Trump declared the war between Iran and Israel completely over and said the ceasefire would “go forever” in an exclusive phone interview with NBC News Monday night.
“I think the ceasefire is unlimited,” Trump told NBC News correspondent Yamiche Alcindor. “It’s going to go forever.”
He added in the phone interview that it was “a wonderful day for the world, in my opinion,” and also proclaimed it “a great day for America.”
“I’m very happy to have been able to get the job done," he told the network on Monday. "A lot of people were dying, and it was only going to get worse. It would have brought the whole Middle East down."
Trump’s comments came just after the president announced that Iran and Israel had agreed to a ceasefire, a deal Trump took credit for putting together. Over the weekend, Trump ordered a series of strikes against Iran's nuclear facilities.
