Speeding driver dies after crashing into ditch off Hwy 47, police say
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A 72-year-old woman died on Friday after driving into a ditch and striking a tree on Highway 47 near Banks, Oregon State Police said.
Authorities responded to the crash just before 9 p.m.
"The preliminary investigation indicated a blue Subaru Forester, operated by Jeannine Bradvice (72) of Banks, was traveling northbound on Highway 47 near milepost 81 when the operator lost control of the vehicle, veered into a ditch on the west side of the highway, and struck a tree.
Bradvice was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash," police said.
