Everything you need to know about the 2025 Champions Parade
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KFOR) – If you’re tired from staying up late watching the Thunder win the championship Sunday night, Mayor David Holt said you can sleep on Wednesday. Tuesday’s parade and celebrations will be an all-day affair.
“Our team has achieved sports immortality,” said Mayor David Holt of Oklahoma City.
“We’ve always been on the map , but now we’re in the history books,” said Chief Ron C. Bacy, with Oklahoma City Police.
The NBA Finals may have ended with a championship for the OKC Thunder, but the celebration is far from over.
Tuesday, the Champions Parade begins.
Over 500,000 people are expected in Downtown OKC.
“This is going to be unlike anything we’ve ever seen,” said Mayor Holt. “The numbers are going to be staggering tomorrow.”
Mayor Holt said if you own a business, consider changing schedules to allow employees to attend. If your business is downtown, you will not have normal operating hours.
Below is the 2-mile parade route. It starts at Northwest 10th St. and Harvey. Closing ceremonies will be happening at Scissortail Park. Mayor Holt said that will be the busiest area.
He suggests if you want to actually see the parade, consider setting up at different areas.
There will be displays set up along the route to see programming and the closing ceremonies.
Parking will be first-come-first-serve. Start your trek to downtown OKC early.
EMBARK is starting its “Park and Ride” services starting at 7:00am - 9:30am. You can park at the West Lot of Remington Park, South Lot at the State Capitol, or the R Lot at the State Fair Grounds to be shuttled in.
“We’re going to be trying to get you as close as possible to the parade route and then we’ll also be providing shuttle rides back to those park and ride locations,” said Jesse Rush with EMBARK.
When you get to the parade, remember that cell bandwidth is built for around 80,000 people. Service will be spotty. Have a plan and a meeting spot.
“Please, please, please, stay with your children. Number two, make sure your children know your contact information or have that contact information on them,” said Chief Bacy.
There will also be a heavy police presence and 200 medical personnel ready for emergencies.
“On foot, bikes, golf carts, and ambulances to reach patients quickly,” said Michael Parrish with EMSA.
Before you head out, be prepared to walk, stay hydrated, and Thunder up.
