Zillow Gone Wild spotlights new Merion Village home with historic look
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — The popular social media account Zillow Gone Wild has once again turned its attention to central Ohio, this time featuring a striking property in the heart of Columbus.
The latest standout home showcased on the viral platform is located at 43-45 W. Markison Avenue in the Merion Village neighborhood. While the building might look like a historic gem, the 4,536-square-foot duplex is, in reality, new construction built in 2022, intentionally designed to resemble a century-old residence.
Named “The Book House” by the builder, the property was created as a short-term rental. It lives up to its name with shelves upon shelves of books filling the home’s rooms. According to the listing from The Brokerage House, one of its most striking features includes floor-to-ceiling bookshelves equipped with library ladders and more than 7,000 hardcover books.
According to the realtor, the double unit's interior has eight bedrooms, six bathrooms and space for 24 guests to sleep comfortably. The accommodations were “designed specifically to function as a large party entertaining space with modern amenities.” It also comes with all the furnishings, including the books and ownership of its website.
The agent's description notes that the house is located near Nationwide Children's Hospital. Additionally, visitors can also easily access German Village and Downtown Columbus attractions.
The current price is $1.7 million, with an estimated monthly payment of $9,588.
Zillow Gone Wild began in 2020 as an Instagram account created by former BuzzFeed social media director Samir Mezreahi. It has since grown to more than one million followers across other platforms.
