NY police officer allegedly drives drunk, crashes into pedestrian: SCPD
HUNTINGTON, N.Y. (PIX11) – A Suffolk County police officer was accused of driving drunk and crashing into a pedestrian in Huntington early Sunday morning, according to authorities.
Police said it happened on New York Avenue at Carver Street around 2:30 a.m. Alexander Vargas, 30, allegedly struck 28-year-old Jorge Alfaro with his 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, according to authorities.
Police said Alfaro was running to cross the street. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, according to authorities.
Police said Vargas, who is a police officer assigned to the Second Precinct, was off duty at the time of the crash. He was suspended without pay and charged with DWI, according to authorities.
