Report: Benge, Reimer Promoted To Double-A; Houck To High-A
According to Daniel Wexler on X, both infielder Jacob Reimer and outfielder Carson Benge have been promoted from High-A Brooklyn to Double-A Binghamton. Each helped Brooklyn capture a first half South Atlantic League championship.
Benge, the 19th-overall pick in the 2024 draft, has been lights out this season. He’s slashing .302/.417/.480, good for an OPS of .897, across 225 at-bats. He posted four homers to go along with 27 total extra-base hits. He walked (41) almost as much as he struck out (50). Benge has also stolen 15 bases.
The former Oklahoma State Cowboy predominately played center field for Brooklyn, but also played both corner outfield spots.
Reimer, a fourth-round pick in 2022, has broken out this season. Across 226 at-bats he’s slashing .288/.389/.509, which is good for an .898 OPS. The 21-year-old has 30 extra-base hits (eight homers), 39 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases.
Reimer has predominantly played third base for Brooklyn, but has also spent time at first base and in the designated hitter role.
Entering Sunday, Benge ranked third and Reimer fourth in wRC+ among 73 qualified South Atlantic league hitters this season. They’ll be joining a Double-A Binghamton team already loaded with talent, sitting at 45-22 in the Eastern League, also already have clinched a playoff berth via a first-half title.
In addition to these moves, Colin Houck was promoted from Single-A St. Lucie to High-A Brooklyn. The 20-year-old infielder was the 32nd-overall pick in 2022. He had an .812 OPS for St. Lucie prior to his promotion.
