68 Rite Aid stores in WNY to close
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Sixty-eight Western New York Rite Aid stores will close next week and more than 700 people will be out of a job, state labor records show.
Rite Aid filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time in a year earlier this month and is in the process of closing distribution centers and selling off or closing store locations across the country. Stores in Erie, Niagara, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Genesee and Wyoming counties are affected by the closures.
Rite Aid is attempting to work with other pharmacies and retailers to give them customer prescriptions, but there is no guarantee that they will be located at the same place.
The stores will begin closing on June 4, according to the state.
