Planned road closures for Emporia Unbound Gravel races
EMPORIA (KSNT) - Thousands of bikers are participating in the 2025 Unbound Gravel races in Emporia, prompting several local roads to close.
The Unbound Gravel race officially kicks off on Thursday, May 29 and lasts through to Sunday, June 1. Around 5,000 riders are expected to participate in the various races offered through Unbound, including the 350-mile race.
27 News reached out to the City of Emporia for details on road closures. City Communications Manager Christine Torrens and the Emporia Police Department said the following roads will be closed for the race:
- Thursday, May 29 – Expo & Pre-Race Activities - closed all day.
- 800 Block of Commercial Street.
- Seventh Street from Commercial Street to Market Street.
- Eighth Street from Commercial Street to Mechanic Street.
- Parking lots & blocks on 700 & 600 blocks of Mechanic Street.
- Friday, May 30 – Expo Continues - closed all day.
- 800 Block of Commercial Street.
- Seventh and Eighth Streets from Commercial Street to Mechanic Street.
- Parking lots in 700 and 600 blocks of Mechanic Street.
- Commercial Street from Sixth to 10th Avenue.
- Saturday, May 31 – Finish Line Party.
- 600 through 1100 blocks of Commercial Street will be closed along with 12th Avenue from Merchant Street to Highland Street.
