Topeka Kids' Library receives major redesign
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Heading into summer, the youngest members of the Topeka community have a new space to explore. On Thursday, the Topeka and Shawnee County Public Library unveiled its redesigned Kids' Library.
Opening ahead of the library's busiest time of the year, the renovation has been in the works since December of 2024. The library transformed the entire space, bringing new play opportunities for infants, school aged children and teens.
“Everybody needs that in order to be able to discover themselves," Youth Services Supervisor LeAnn Brungardt said, "discover what they’re good at, to be able to plug in. We’ve made it so people can do a little bit of that experimentation in the play.”
“It’s fun to see that imagination grow," Topeka Public Library CEO, Marie Pyko said. "Yes that can be happening in the books, but we’ve taken those ideas from the books and we’ve realized them here in space.”
Every time you stop by the library, the new space may look a little different. The activities and playscapes will change every so often to keep the kids' zone fresh.
