This obviously invites a ton of speculation. There’s a whole lot we don’t know about the goat people, or maybe Kier’s weird childhood. Season two also revealed that Lumon has outposts all over the world, which must have their own kooky things going on. And what’s with Miss Huang and all the other office-ready children? The possibilities do feel sort of endless.
But while it could be decades until any of them are realized, Stiller is mulling some other idea in the meantime. It would “be great to have a Severance video game,” he said, to which Adam Scott, who was also present for the interview, responded, “I think it lends itself to one.” Severance merch like a Lumon keyboard may also be forthcoming, as long as it feels “bespoke and specific to the show.” Make sure you set a reminder whenever that does get announced; it will probably be coveted as fuck.
As for rumors of tension on set that led to the long wait between seasons, Stiller had this to say: “Everybody on the show gets along. There’s never been any weirdness on our show between anybody… I don’t think there’s ever been any creative process that doesn’t have some conflict, and that’s actually really important, because you’re questioning and constantly trying to make sure that the choices you’re making are the ones that are going to hold up in two years.” Even if that is 100% true, the team may still need some healthy separation between their work selves and regular selves to get all this extra writing done.
