National Youth Omnium roundup
Thanks to all who attended the Omnium last weekend. We were thrilled to welcome 80+ riders from across the country and witness such a high standard of racing across all age categories. The sunshine held out, the racing was fierce but friendly, and the atmosphere in the track centre was fantastic!
A special thanks to our 30+ volunteer team and visiting British Cycling volunteer officials for making the day run so smoothly. We hope you all had a great experience.
All results are available on the PPYCC website (including TT times) and the British Cycling event page.
PPYCC had 13 riders representing the club: Felix, Max, Gus and Megan in Youth A; Harley and Raphael in Youth B; Thomas, Reuben, Ioannis, Ossian in Youth C; and Mason, Rory and Alice in Youth D. Some were stepping up from the local track league to race at regional level for the first time so a big congratulations to them, and to everyone for completing a gruelling day of racing. Mason and Alice won their respective categories, so a big well done to them!
There is a great gallery of the day by our photographer, club member and coach Idha Hicks, these are available online.
Finally, we had a big clash that weekend with many of our riders also out racing at Worthing Duathlon, most of whom would otherwise been at the Omnium. Congratulations to Luke and Thor who both got 2nd places, Cooper and James who won their respective categories, and Jake who did his first event of the year. Jess was also in action at the MTB Southern XC Series race where she got a 3rd in her category. Well done to you all, we missed you at the track and will try to avoid such clashes next year
