Auburn landed a commitment from Serbian forward Filip Jovic on Wednesday, a source confirmed to ZAGSBLOG. Jovic is a 6-foot-9, 20-year-old forward that played professionally for KK Mega Basket of the Serbian League.
Auburn also got good news when freshman point guard Tahaad Pettiford withdrew from the NBA Draft and decided to return to campus, sources confirmed. The Jersey City, NJ native averaged 11.6 points and 3.0 assist with the Tigers.
This season, Jovic averaged 12.4 points per game and 4.0 rebounds per game on 57.1% shooting from the field. His most notable appearance came on January 12 when he recorded 26 points and 11 rebounds on 10-of-17 shooting for KK Mega Basket.
Jovic also comes from the same team that NBA MVP Nikola Jokic came from.
He joins Auburn’s recruiting class of Elyjah Freeman (Lincoln Memorial), Kevin Overton (Texas Tech), KeShawn Murphy (Mississippi State) and Keyshawn Hall (UCF).
Auburn’s high school recruiting class includes Sebastian Williams-Adams, Kaden Magwood and Simon Walker.
Auburn also added JUCO transfer Abdul Bashir in February.
