Chick-fil-A planning to open Groveport-area location
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – A fast food chain known for its chicken sandwiches is planning to open a location near Groveport.
Chick-fil-A is working to obtain the permits needed to open an eatery at 4201 South Hamilton Road, a spokesperson with the chain told NBC4. The site, which is currently an undeveloped lot, sits next to a Sheetz gas station off U.S. 33.
While the ZIP code of the planned restaurant is classified as Groveport, the property sits just north of the city’s boundary and is technically in Columbus’ Winchester neighborhood.
“We look forward to the opportunity to grow in the greater Columbus area by creating more jobs, serving more guests and investing in the community,” the spokesperson said.
Chick-fil-A has 15 eateries in the Columbus area, with the chain considering the planned South Hamilton Road restaurant its “first Groveport location.” Each fast food joint creates an average of 80 to 120 jobs, the company said.
Chick-fil-A currently has over 3,000 locations across 48 states, Puerto Rico and Canada, according to its website. A majority of locations are franchise-owned, including those in the Columbus market.
The Atlanta-based fast food chain is best known for its chicken-focused meals, including sandwiches, nuggets, strips and wraps. It also serves salads, along with sides such as waffle fries, mac and cheese, and yogurt parfaits.
Since the company is still working through the permitting process for its proposed South Hamilton Road eatery, an opening date has not yet been revealed.
