BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Baton Rouge rapper NBA Youngboy was pardoned by President Donald Trump.
NBA Youngboy, or Kentrell Gaulden, took to social media about his pardon by President Trump.
"I want to thank President Trump for granting me a pardon and giving me the opportunity to keep building, as a man, as a father and as an artist."
This moment means a lot. It opens the door to a future I've worked hard for and I am fully prepapred to step into this.
Big thanks to the Pardon Czar, Ms. Alice Marie Johnson, for fighting for second chances for so many people, and to my lawyer, Brittany K. Barnett, for being in my corner and all you hard work to make this possible.
And thank you to everyone who believed in me.
I'm grateful. I'm focused. I'm ready."

On Dec. 10, 2024, Gaulden was sentenced to under two years in a federal prison on gun-related charges.
NBA Youngboy was arrested in September 2020 during a music video shoot in Baton Rouge, where he and others were reportedly flashing guns. His legal troubles compounded when he was implicated in unrelated charges in Utah, including a prescription drug fraud ring. As part of his plea agreement, additional charges for possession of a firearm not registered with the National Firearms Registry were dropped in March 2024.
After being released in March 2025, Gaulden was moved from a federal prison in Alabama to a Residential Reentry Management facility in Arizona.
The 25-year-old artist begins his "MASA" tour in Dallas on Sept. 2. The tour's finale is scheduled for a two-day show in New Orleans at the Smoothie King Center on Sunday, Oct. 19, and Monday, Oct. 20.
