Driver crashes car, fled on foot before arrest in NE Portland, police say
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Police arrested a man after he initially eluded officers in his car, then crashed his vehicle in Northeast Portland on Thursday, authorities said.
Portland police said they attempted to stop the driver around 4 p.m. near Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Northeast Columbia Street but he took off. Officers did not pursue.
However, the driver crashed his car anyway, then ran from the scene, according to police. After that, police said they started a search for the man, setting up a perimeter and using dogs to track him.
He was located and arrested within an hour, Portland police said.
