Guardians 7, Dodgers 4: Late Rally Prevents Sweep
8th inning comeback stuns Dodgers, Guardians win the finale
I find myself typing out the word ‘well’ at the start of quite a few of these recaps but, well... Today was definitely newsworthy.
I did think that today’s recap would be more somber given the events from the beginning of the game. Kwan exited somewhat suddenly after a rough swing in his first at-bat.
#Guardians Steven Kwan left today’s game injured and appeared to occur on this swing.

Per Tim Stebbins, Kwan has right wrist inflammation.

Nolan Jones came in for Kwan and ended the day 3-3 with the game-tying 2-run single in the 8th.
Let’s talk about Kolby Allard. What a start. He was flawless through 3, but eventually gave up a pair of runs in the 4th. Still, coming in on short notice and giving the Guardians a chance to win after 4 quality innings is beyond commendable.
Jose continued his hit streak, extending it to 21 games today with an RBI single in his first at-bat.

He ended the day 3-5 with a double and an RBI.
Santana went 3-4 with a walk and an RBI, and Angel Martinez went 2-5 with this game-winning 3-run shot in the 8th.

Best offensive output from the team this year, as they tallied a season-high 15 hits (to go along with 4 walks).
Some offensive miscues early on prevented the offense from scoring (bad bunt, some untimely GIDPs), but they recovered well later in the game.
Both Cade and Walters gave up a run (sad), but (!!) Clase looked fantastic. Flawless inning with a K, and the two batted balls he gave up were an 84mph grounder and a 90mph pop fly to right. Vintage!
Vogt just said in his postgame presser that both Kwan and Lane Thomas will be available to play Friday! Also, he said that Slade is fine, thankfully.
Vogt said in the postgame that he expects Kwan will be good to go on Friday, that Thomas was available off the bench but he wanted to avoid going to him if possible, and that Slade Cecconi will start Saturday.

Despite losing the series, the Guardians went 4-3 against two of the best teams in MLB at the moment. Hopefully, they can keep rolling and take the series against the Angels this weekend before they head to the Bronx.
