Still worth millions: Cristiano Ronaldo’s market value revealed after Saudi Pro League season end and Al-Nassr exit hint
The Saudi Pro League has undergone a sweeping market value update at the close of the 2024–25 season, with a broad reevaluation of players’ worth bringing some surprising results. The valuation, compiled by Transfermarkt and covering 471 players, shows a notable decline across the league, including sharp downgrades for several high-profile stars. However, amid the widespread devaluation, one soccer icon stands apart—not just for retaining his value, but for defying time itself.
As questions swirl over his next move and Al-Nassr’s future, one of soccer’s living legends has managed to preserve his value even as the sands shift beneath him. At 40, he remains a standout performer and continues to break records in a league that’s struggling to maintain its early momentum.
The 2024-25 season may not have delivered silverware for Al-Nassr, but Cristiano Ronaldo once again made headlines for his enduring excellence. Despite falling short in the Saudi Pro League, AFC Champions League Elite, and King’s Cup, the Portuguese forward finished as top scorer in the league with 25 goals in 30 games and 35 goals across all competitions.
Transfermarkt’s latest evaluation has maintained Ronaldo’s market value at €12 million (approximately $13.6 million), solidifying his status as “the most valuable footballer in the world over the age of 40.”
That valuation has held steady since December 2024, despite his side’s underwhelming season. They finished third in the league with 70 points, 13 behind Karim Benzema’s Al-Ittihad and five behind runners-up Al-Hilal. Their semi-final exit in the AFC Champions League Elite and a round of 16 defeat in the King’s Cup were major disappointments, but the Portuguese’s individual brilliance offered a silver lining.
Legacy worth millions
“Cristiano Ronaldo remains an exceptional force on the pitch,” noted Transfermarkt. “At 40, his physical conditioning, goalscoring consistency, and commercial appeal continue to justify his valuation.”
Ronaldo’s current valuation may seem modest compared to the astronomical fees attached to younger stars, but it’s important to put it in historical context. The former Real Madrid and Juventus talisman once reached a peak market value of $135 million during his prime between 2014 and 2018—particularly after clinching his final UEFA Champions League title in 2018.
That value dropped progressively after his move to Juventus and later to Manchester United. By 2021, when he returned to Old Trafford at age 36, he was valued at $40 million. Upon his sensational move to Al-Nassr in January 2023, he was worth $17 million, which has since decreased slightly to its current level.
