Celtics Rumors: Another Club To Show Interest In Jrue Holiday Trade
Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday is expected to have plenty of suitors this offseason.
The Dallas Mavericks reportedly want to pair the veteran playmaker with incumbent stars Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis, as well as (likely) future No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg. The Houston Rockets and Golden State Warriors were floated as potential landing spots, as well.
Who else?
The Los Angeles Clippers want in on the bidding, according to MassLive’s Brian Robb.
“Holiday is expected to be pursued by several teams on the trade market, and a league source tells MassLive that the Los Angeles Clippers are one team expected to show interest in the 34-year-old guard this offseason,” Robb wrote on Wednesday. “The Celtics outbid several teams, including the Clippers, per sources, for Holiday back in 2023 when the Blazers made the two-time All-Star available following the Damian Lillard blockbuster deal to the Bucks.”
How would such a trade work?
The Clippers could combine reserve guard Bogdan Bogdanovic’s money ($16 million) with center Drew Eubanks ($4.75 million) and one other low-cost player to satisfy trade matching rules, per Robb. The Celtics’ interest in those two players is unknown, however, and there isn’t much in terms of draft capital that can be moved on either side.
Boston might not have many better options, though, as any deal they make involving Holiday, Derrick White or Jaylen Brown likely will leave them on the losing end in terms of talent swapped.
