Julien Baker cancels remaining tour dates to focus on health
Julien Baker has canceled the remainder of her U.S. tour with Torres amid undisclosed health issues. “Due to recent events, Julien Baker is prioritizing her well-being and taking time to focus on her health,” both artists posted on Instagram over the weekend. “This decision was not made lightly, and we understand the disappointment this may cause for fans,” their statement continued, directing ticket holders to look to their original point of purchase for refund info and thanking fans for their “continued support and compassion.” The two artists hit the road in March for a tour that was supposed to end late July at the Newport Folk Festival.
Baker and Torres released their country-inspired collaborative album, Send A Prayer My Way, in April, which followed the lead single, “Sugar In The Tank” (and a fun line dancing video) three months prior. Baker is known for solo albums like Little Oblivions (2021) and Turn Out The Lights (2017). She’s also a member of the supergroup Boygenius with Phoebe Bridgers and Lucy Dacus, with whom she won three Grammys last year. Torres’ previous work includes What An Enormous Room (2024), Thirstier (2021), and more.
Torres and Baker, who’ve been friends for a decade, actually began working on this record in the early days of the COVID-19 lockdown, but decided to hold it so its cycle didn’t run up against the release of Boygenius’ The Record. “It sucked because we were both chomping at the bit to get it out,” Baker told The Independent. “It would’ve felt really bad to start something and have an end date already in the future and to truncate it [because] it had to be done by the time I started doing Boygenius stuff. I’m glad we waited. I think it served the songs too.”
