Tottenham fans turn on Cristian Romero after shocking blunder – ‘His head is elsewhere’
After a shaky outing against Wolverhampton Wanderers, some Tottenham Hotspur fans are now calling for Cristian Romero to be sold.
The Premier League is well and truly done for Tottenham Hotspur this campaign, as the Lilywhites are now 15th in the league, two points away from 17th-placed West Ham United.
However, with pride and a bit of momentum still needed before the end of the season, many fans would still love to see their team win football matches.
That was not the case for Ange Postecoglou’s men, as 17th-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers dispatched Spurs 4-2 at the Molineux Stadium.
Tottenham errors vs Wolves spark fan backlash against Cristian Romero
It was a game that was filled with Tottenham errors from start to finish. The likes of Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero and Lucas Bergvall all played a big role in the four goals conceded against Viktor Pereira’s side.
With reports linking Romero with a potential move away from Tottenham Hotspur, Spurs fans on social media were quick to point fingers.
Many were left frustrated, with several suggesting his head is no longer at the club.
One fan, when asked about Romero’s display, said: “Shocking. He’s been rusty for a while, but recently it just looks like his head is elsewhere. He’s gone in the summer.”
Another added: “He’s off in the summer, no point talking about him anymore.” A supporter remarked: “Absolutely pathetic. Sell him to these mercenaries Real Madrid for £129m (€150m).”
Another fan claimed: “Looking to reduce his worth to make himself more attractive to interested clubs.” Someone else simply said: “Looks fine for Argentina, it’s Ange.”
One fan added: “It’s absolutely intentional. He wants out. Let him leave — so much better for the prices quoted.” Another remarked: “We need to cash out. Blud is not interested.”
Huge Europa League tie awaits Spurs on Thursday night
While Spurs fans are disappointed in Cristian Romero’s performance, the same could be said about every single player out there.
This season has been anything but impressive for Spurs. Every team, whether at the top or bottom, seems to be having a field day against them in the Premier League.
Their latest setback now marks a 17th league defeat, and for Ange Postecoglou, this is far from ideal. With his future at the club still up in the air, this is a massive blow — especially with a huge Europa League clash coming up this Thursday.
