International Round-Up: Adams Makes Scotland Debut
There were five Hibees on international duty in February; read our full round-up below!
Eilidh Adams & Erin Clachers - Scotland ‘A’ Squad
It was an unforgettable international break for Eilidh Adams as she earned her first two senior caps for Scotland.
The 20-year-old, who has netted 23 times in 25 appearances this season for Hibs, made her international debut off the bench versus Austria in the Nations League Group A1 opener.
Eilidh replaced Chelsea Cornet on 79 minutes as Scotland chased an equaliser at the Innviertel Arena.
“It was a special moment,” Eilidh told the Scotland National Team after the game. “For me personally, it is a massive step in my career.”
The milestones did not stop there for Eilidh, as the striker made her first senior international start five days later at the home of Scottish football.
She played 70 minutes at Hampden Park as Scotland narrowly lost out to perennial heavyweights Netherlands after taking the lead inside the first half.
Scotland interim head coach Michael McArdle also selected Erin Clachers as one of three goalkeepers in his 23-strong squad.
The 25-year-old shot-stopper served as immediate back-up to veteran keeper Lee Gibson, who started both Nations League matches.
The call-up is testament to Erin’s impressive domestic form this season; she has kept eight clean sheets in 15 matches for the Hibees.
Rowena Armitage, Isla Gourley & Ava Dunbar - Scotland Under-17s
Another goalkeeper called up for international action was 16-year-old Rowena Armitage.
The youngster, who is currently enjoying a fruitful loan spell at fellow topflight outfit Montrose, was one of three Hibernian players called up to Michael Tuohy’s Under-17 squad for the MIMA Cup.
Rowena started all three games in Pinatar, Spain, as Scotland took on Sweden, Canada and Czechia, respectively.
While the Under-17s were defeated in the first two fixtures, Rowena was at hand to keep a crucial clean sheet to help guide Scotland to a 1-0 victory over Czechia.
Rowena has since been called up again, as the youngsters jet off to France for the second round of qualifiers for the 2025 European Under-17 Championships.
Isla Gourley also made two appearances during the international break in Pinatar.
The Hibs youngster came on as a substitute in Scotland’s first MIMA Cup encounter versus Sweden.
Impressing off the bench, Isla was granted a start against Canada in the young team’s second match.
Lastly, defender Ava Dunbar featured as a substitute across all three fixtures in Spain.
