Cooler, cloudier start to March around Portland area
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- March is starting off cloudier and cooler around Portland after days with highs in the 60s and 70s.
Temperatures will remain mild and above average Saturday across the Pacific Northwest, but even cooler conditions come Sunday. A nearly 10-degree temperature drop will make Sunday's highs in the mid-50s feel chilly after Thursday's record-breaking temperatures in the 70s.
Mostly dry skies will remain over western Oregon and southwest Washington. Overcast conditions will become more widespread as rain returns to the region Sunday. Light rain is possible before sunrise on Sunday as rain accumulation nears 0.25-0.5" along the Willamette Valley by Sunday evening.
Snow elevations will fall close to 4,000' on Sunday and remain near 3,500' by the start of next week. Additional snow accumulation could be near 3-5" by the end of the weekend.
Scattered rain showers are expected to last through much of the first week of the month of March.
Despite scattered rain showers, temperatures are expected to remain near average. Highs will warm into the low to mid-50s through the end of next week.
