Jamie O’Hara urges Ange Postecoglou to take drastic measures to boost Tottenham trophy hopes
Jamie O’Hara has suggested that Ange Postecoglou do something drastic over the coming weeks and months as Tottenham set their sights on winning the Europa League.
Spurs have what looks like a relatively straightforward tie on paper in the Round of 16 stage of the Europa League, with the Lilywhites set to lock horns with AZ Alkmaar for a place in the final eight of the competition.
Tottenham now have little to play for in the Premier League, which might have been why Postecoglou decided to drop the likes of Heung-min Son, Dejan Kulusevski and Djed Spence to the bench against Manchester City.
Some Spurs fans were happy with Postecoglou’s decision, but O’Hara has now suggested that the Tottenham boss should do something even more drastic.

O’Hara has insisted that Tottenham have nothing to gain from trying to get wins under their belt and move into a more respectable position in the Premier League table.
He opined that their league finish does not matter and urged Postecoglou to play a second-string side in the clash against Bournemouth, which is sandwiched between the two legs against Alkmaar.
Speaking after Tottenham’s defeat to Manchester City on Wednesday, O’Hara told Sky Sports: “The Premier League is gone for Tottenham, it’s over. This season is done. It doesn’t matter where we finish twelfth, ninth, we’re not going to get European football, but what we can do is win the Europa League.
“AZ Alkmaar is the biggest game of Ange Postecoglou’s career. That’s next week, he wants his best players fit, fresh and ready to go. That’s where all of his whole focus is.
“When we play Bournemouth in between that game, play a B team because the Premier League doesn’t matter now. It ain’t going to change where we finish; it’s gone.”
O’Hara claims Postecoglou can do something special at Tottenham
Despite all the missteps that Tottenham have made this season, O’Hara believes that his former side is capable of lifting the Europa League trophy and making this a memorable campaign.
The 38-year-old suggested that ending the club’s 17-year-old trophy drought would instantly make Postecoglou a hero at N17.
The pundit added: “If we win the Europa League, you get Champions League football, and Ange Postecoglou could go down as one of the most successful managers that we’ve had in recent times if he wins the Europa League
“Spurs with their best team, I would say have got the best chance of winning the Europa League. The Premier League is gone for Tottenham, it’s over.”
