Ange Postecoglou reveals exciting thing Tottenham will reap rewards for next season
Ange Postecoglou reacts to fielding youngest-ever Tottenham team: “There is enormous growth that we are witnessing before our eyes”.
While Ange Postecoglou has faced his fair share of criticism in recent months, the manager deserves credit for the way he has overseen Tottenham’s rebuild, particularly in his handling of young players.
This season, the Australian has placed his trust in the club’s emerging talents, especially during the team’s injury crisis.
Archie Gray, who was recently named Young Player of the Year at the London Football Awards, has been one of the standout beneficiaries of Postecoglou’s faith.
Meanwhile, Lucas Bergvall has seen increased involvement following Yves Bissouma’s dip in form.

On Wednesday in the clash against Manchester City, Postecoglou’s faith in his young players was on full display as he named the youngest starting XI of his managerial career since moving to north London.
The team also ranked as the second youngest in Tottenham’s Premier League history.
Speaking after being made aware of the record, the Spurs boss reflected on the positives, despite the team’s current struggles.
He said as relayed by the official Tottenham Hotspur website: “There are definitely positives, and I think, you know, I keep saying there is enormous growth that we are witnessing before our eyes, even though we are not getting the rewards for it right now,
“It is great for Wilson to get 60 minutes today, and he will benefit enormously from it. Archie and Lucas continue to grow every game, and look, we are disappointed, but like I said, in terms of performance, from my perspective anyway, there is stuff in there where we can say, ‘okay, we are going to take that forward and get to the level we want to’.”
A historic Tottenham lineup
The team’s average age of 23 years and 243 days was only surpassed by the side that took to the pitch against Sheffield Wednesday in September 1992, which had an average age of 23 years and 97 days. That was during Spurs’ 10th match in the newly formed Premier League.
Wednesday’s youthful lineup included three teenagers—Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, and Mathys Tel—while Wilson Odobert, making his first start since returning from injury, has only recently turned 20 and was one of the youngest to feature in the clash.
